The 33rd conference of Asian Economic Policy Review (AEPR) conference on “Pandemics and the Economy” was held online on April 9 and 10, 2021, inviting experts from Japan and abroad. The spread of the new coronavirus has had a major impact on the global economy. Although policy responses and vaccinations in various countries are expected to be effective, the future still remains uncertain. In this conference, there was a lively exchange of views on the economic impact of the spread of the new coronavirus on Asian countries, the policy responses of Southeast Asian countries to the coronavirus outbreak, the shortage of medical equipment supplies, and trade policy issues. The papers submitted to the conference will be revised and edited based on the content of the conference, and will be published in January 2022 after review by the editors.
